International Women’s Day is an annual day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world.
It is also a day for educating and raising awareness about women’s equality and calling for a positive change in advancing women.
Today, we celebrate the women of Eskew Law. Each of these talented women is integral to the team.
They each bring their unique skills to the firm, enhancing our company culture and the service we provide to our clients.
Raeanna Spahn – Personal Injury and Civil Litigation Attorney
Raeanna Spahn is a skilled attorney who focuses her practice in personal injury and civil litigation and has been a part of our team for eight years. Raeanna is passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced loss from sustaining an injury. She is committed to providing personalized legal representation for her clients. She accomplishes this by spending time getting to know people on a personal level to truly understand their needs. She has several years of litigation experience and the knowledge to understand and navigate complex civil and personal injury matters.
Prior to joining Eskew Law, Raeanna acquired extensive criminal and civil litigation experience. She is a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Marion County and prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony offenses. She has tried numerous jury and bench trials, and her litigation experience extends to both state and federal courts.
Outside of work, Raeanna is an animal lover. She has two cats and one dog and is always looking for ways to support animal charities. Raeanna also enjoys concerts, working out, and spending time with her friends and family. Additionally, Raeanna is an adjunct professor at Marian University in Paralegal Studies.
Yasmin Abdelhak Barker – Family Law Attorney
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Yasmin Abdelhak Barker has a passion for serving the Indiana community. As the proud child of immigrant parents, she is passionate about closing the gap in equal and fair representation for non-English speaking individuals. Yasmin is fluent in both Spanish and English and utilizes her own life experiences to bring unique focus, empathy, and compassion to her practice, which is entirely devoted to family law-related matters.
Yasmin graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a minor in Criminal Justice. Shortly after, Yasmin spent several years working in a civil law firm in preparation for her decision to attend law school. Yasmin attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis and graduated with her JD and Advocacy Skills graduate certificate. During law school, she participated in the Honorable Robert H. Staton Moot Court competition and was named to the Order of the Barristers. Additionally, Yasmin received the Mary H. Mitchell Outstanding Service Award for her pro bono contributions as a law student, and completed an externship with Kids’ Voice of Indiana and the Child Advocacy Legal Clinic through the law school. Through these experiences, Yasmin served as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) on active family law and DCS matters. It was thanks in part to these opportunities that Yasmin developed her passion for trial work and family law, particularly as it relates to child-focused issues.
Following her admission to the Indiana Bar, Yasmin has been with Eskew Law ever since. She is also admitted to the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana’s United States District Courts. Yasmin continues to volunteer as a GAL through Kids’ Voice of Indiana and is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and its Family Law and Young Lawyer’s Divisions.
When not at the office or in the courtroom, Yasmin loves all things music and is usually either in an online queue to purchase concert tickets or curating new Spotify playlists. She is also passionate about traveling to the places on her bucket list, including each of America’s National Parks.
Victoria Woodworth – HR and Office Administrator
Victoria is the HR and Office Administrator at Eskew Law. She is transitioning into this role after spending the last eight years as the Criminal Legal Assistant and Head Paralegal. Victoria has vast knowledge of the daily operations of our firm, as well as managing and providing support to our Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Additionally, Victoria possesses organizational skills that enable all practice areas of our firm to flourish. She enjoys celebrating our team member’s milestones, event planning, and ensuring that our team feels supported and that everyone has what they need every day.
Victoria is currently on maternity leave and enjoying spending time with her husband and newborn son.
Kelli Maxwell – Marketing Director
Kelli is the Marketing Director at Eskew Law. She is a gifted storyteller who loves using her creative skills to engage and connect with people – especially through visual design and writing. Kelli also enjoys using her analytical skills to understand the wants and needs of others, helping our team develop effective ways to communicate on personal and corporate levels. Additionally, she loves event planning and thrives in an environment where she can help others.
Prior to joining Eskew Law, Kelli worked as a marketing professional in the finance and non-profit sectors and recruitment marketing in the commercial maintenance industry. Outside of work, Kelli is a full-time bonus mom who enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She is an avid foodie who loves cooking, listening to music and singing (karaoke queen!), trying new restaurants, spending quality time with her friends and family, volunteering as a youth cheerleader coach, and supporting her local youth football league.
Sam Romain – Criminal Legal Assistant
Sam is the Criminal Legal Assistant at Eskew Law. She started her journey on our team as a receptionist and recently moved into her new role. Sam is originally from Miami, Florida, and relocated to Indianapolis with her family in 2023. She is currently in her gap year before going to Law School and plans to work as a Criminal Defense Attorney in the future.
In her current role, she assists our team of Criminal Defense Attorneys with their caseloads by filing important documents, reaching out to clients for information that may be helpful to their case, and calendaring upcoming court dates for each client. She has a positive attitude and consistently provides excellent service to our clients. When Sam is not hard at work, she spends her time reading romance novels and watching her favorite comfort shows on tv.
Jannet Diaz – Receptionist
Jannet is the receptionist at Eskew Law. She has an extensive background in customer service and operations support. She provides excellent service to our clients and her bilingual skills have helped us expand our services to the Hispanic community. In addition to working with clients, answering our ever-ringing phones, providing administrative support to our attorneys, and keeping our front office organized, Jannet is a skilled multitasker with a zest for knowledge who brings steady, patient, and graceful energy to the team.
Prior to joining Eskew Law, Jannet worked at a non-profit organization that supports women entrepreneurs of color build businesses to enable financial mobility. She is also a talented crafter with a keen eye for detail and design.
Cassie Coleman – Law Clerk
Cassie is a Law Clerk at Eskew Law. She is currently a 2L at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. As an undergraduate, Cassie was involved in the Innocence Project, which developed into a passion for criminal defense law.
Outside of work and school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking her roommate’s dog throughout downtown Indianapolis, and watching binge-worthy reality tv shows.
Kyla Macaraig – Law Clerk
Kyla is a Law Clerk at Eskew Law. Currently, she is a 3L at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. After she completes law school, Kyla plans to start her career as a Family Law Attorney.
When she isn’t at work and school, Kyla enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going to concerts and sporting events, and traveling.
