Eskew Law awards inaugural annual scholarship to Georgetown Law student Tristan Brown.
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) July 26, 2017 —
Eskew Law, a premier boutique law firm that focuses on criminal defense, family law matters, and personal injury litigation, recently awarded its first scholarship to Tristan Brown, a Georgetown Law student. The annual Eskew Law scholarship is given to the child of a parent that has been convicted of a felony. The funding is offered in an effort to support those who come from a disadvantaged background but who are determined to better his or her circumstances.
“When an individual is incarcerated or convicted of a felony, it has a lifelong impact on that individual and their entire family. Children of felons face unique challenges and financial burdens,” said Chris Eskew, founding attorney of Eskew Law. “This is just a small gesture. We wanted to reward individuals who are able to overcome these difficulties, continue to excel, and set a great example for others.”
Scholarship recipients are chosen based on letters of support, their student status, and their motivation behind going to college. Ms. Brown’s application for the award demonstrated her ability to work through her difficulties and excel academically. “The scholarship really helps to alleviate the financial burden of attending law school,” concluded Brown. “This award recognizes that an individual’s background does not determine the potential that one has and the successes that one can achieve.”
