About Eskew Law
At Eskew Law, our talented attorney’s value client relationships above all else. Our focus is not on our win rate or profits. The client is our first and only concern. Every case is different, and every client has varying preferences and goals. Rather than treating every case the same, tackling similar issues with the same approach, we allow our clients to dictate the course of representation.
Each client receives personal, one-on-one contact with our attorneys. No case will be passed off to a paralegal or legal assistant.
Other law firms rely on aggression and courtroom theatrics to impress their clients. We impress our clients by gaining their trust and respect, building real relationships with them, and advocating for their rights and interests. Because we care about our clients, we have a vested interest in the outcome of their cases and will fight alongside them to help them get the end result they deserve.
Legal advice will be customized to your specific circumstances. In addition, we will keep you updated on your case, and we are always available to advise you or prepare you for a hearing.
During your first meeting with us, we will sit down and go over what happened, as well as your goals and desires for the case. We will explain how Indiana law affects your case, answer any questions you may have, and explain what to expect. We will review your options with you and, using our knowledge and experience, advise you on your best course of action. We will then formulate a plan for tackling your case, whether that involves filing a negotiation for diversion, attempting a marital settlement agreement, or fighting unfounded charges. Along the way, we will keep you fully informed so that you can make the right decisions.
What to Look for When Choosing an Attorney
Choosing the right attorney will likely be the most important part of your case. The difference between a good attorney and a bad attorney could spell the difference between a favorable and unfavorable outcome. When deciding on who to retain, you need to consider two main things: experience and fit.

An experienced attorney in litigation matters has real courtroom trial experience. Many attorneys in Indiana shy away from the courtroom and stick only to negotiating settlements or pushing their clients into guilty pleas. An accomplished attorney is comfortable in the courtroom and is adept at navigating hearings and trials, as well as tailoring arguments for the judge and jury. In addition, you should look for measurable success. Many law firms will use cheesy gimmicks and slogans to attract you, but these law firms don’t have the same track record of success as Eskew Law. At our law firm, we don’t need to resort to silly nicknames and commercials. Our history of success speaks for itself.
Once you have narrowed your search down to experienced attorneys, you now need to determine which lawyer will fit your goals and interests the best.
Some lawyers are all about flashy advertisements and courtroom drama. On the other side, Eskew Law focuses on thinking intelligently and creatively about cases.
We believe that combining a keen understanding of Indiana law, passion for client service, and dedication to approaching problems from every angle sets us apart from the rest.
what to expect during your case
No two cases are alike. Each case and each client is unique. With that said, many clients have no prior experience with the legal system and want to know what to expect during the process.
For Indiana criminal cases, the length of the case will vary depending on what level of charge has been filed or is being investigated. Generally, the case begins with an arrest or a summons. A judge in a criminal matter will determine if you should be released or what the bond amount and type should be. If you are released or post bond, you may be saddled with various release conditions, such as drug testing or GPS monitoring. Your case will then likely have a series of hearings. At these hearings, your criminal defense attorney and the prosecutor will communicate with the judge about the status of the case, as well as any issues that have arisen. In between these hearings, your defense lawyer will review the evidence discovered by the state, investigate possible defenses, negotiate for a desirable plea offer or diversion, file motions if appropriate, and consult with you about the direction of the case. If you reject a plea offer or diversion, you will likely proceed to trial. If you do not win your trial or if you plead guilty with some open terms or a cap on the amount of time, your criminal defense lawyer will make sentencing arguments in favor of a mitigated sentence. Any conviction from a trial can be appealed, and some terms of pleas may be appealable as well.
For Indiana family law cases, the matter usually begins with a couple separating. A family law attorney can assist you with avoiding lengthy litigation by negotiating with your former spouse on assets, debt, child custody, and more. If that fails, the court will intervene. Witnesses will testify, and evidence will be introduced. The judge will then make a final determination, such as whether spousal support is necessary or when visitation can occur. After the initial divorce decree, there may be modifications or contempt hearings.
